RUSSIA EXPORT · CHESTNY ZNAK

Code capture, aggregation and traceability at the factory

DMC-SCAN helps overseas manufacturers capture Data Matrix marking codes, prevent duplicates, build item-to-case-to-pallet relationships and retain production-floor traceability data.

Overview

For exporters, the task is not merely printing a Data Matrix symbol

Chestny ZNAK is Russia's national digital marking and traceability system. For product categories covered by mandatory marking, each saleable unit generally carries a unique code and related data is handled across production, import, distribution and retail processes.

At the overseas factory, the practical objective is to keep each code unique, match codes to physical goods, create accurate packaging relationships and retain a clear record when exceptions occur.

Scope notice

Not every product exported to Russia is subject to mandatory marking. Applicability depends on the product category, classification codes and effective dates. The Russian importer should confirm the current requirements using official guidance.

Typical workflow

From importer-issued codes to packaging data created at the factory

Exact reporting points and file formats vary by product category, trade model and importer process.

01

Confirm applicability

Verify product category, classification codes and current effective dates.

02

Importer prepares codes

The Russian importer manages product data and transfers marking codes to the overseas factory.

03

Apply marking

Data Matrix codes are applied to products or packaging under the agreed process.

04

Capture and pack

PDA devices scan each unit, check duplicates and complete cases by packaging rule.

05

Aggregate pallets

Cases are linked to pallet identifiers to form a three-level packaging hierarchy.

06

Deliver data

Relationship data is exported in the agreed format; external integrations are scoped separately.

Factory capabilities

Six capabilities that protect production-floor data quality

DMC-SCAN focuses on accurate capture, concurrent operations and practical exception handling.

01 / CAPTURE

Unit-level code capture

Read Data Matrix codes and show an explicit result and current case count.

02 / DUPLICATE

Multi-PDA duplicate prevention

Combine device-side checks with centralized server validation across operators.

03 / AGGREGATE

Case and pallet aggregation

Build item, case and pallet relationships under defined packaging rules.

04 / OFFLINE

Offline operations

Continue work during temporary network loss and synchronize under controlled rules.

05 / CORRECT

Exception correction

Handle incorrect scans and packaging changes while retaining an audit trail.

06 / TRACE

Query and export

Find relationships by item, case or pallet code and output agreed data.

Solution boundary

Standard software scope and project-specific integration

Code ordering, official platform operations and peripheral equipment are not implied as standard software functions.

Questions

Chestny ZNAK project FAQ

This information supports solution discussions and does not replace formal advice from the importer, customs broker or compliance specialist.

Does every product exported to Russia require marking?

No. Applicability depends on the product category, classification codes and effective dates. Confirm the current scope with the importer and official guidance.

Who normally orders marking codes for imported goods?

The Russian importer typically manages code ordering and transfers the required data to the overseas manufacturer or other execution party.

Does DMC-SCAN generate or order Chestny ZNAK codes?

No. Its standard role is production-floor capture, validation, aggregation, exception handling and traceability. Product-card and code-ordering operations are normally handled by the Russian importer.

Can scanning continue when the factory network is unavailable?

Yes. PDA devices can retain scanning and packaging events locally, then synchronize under defined rules when connectivity returns.

Bring Chestny ZNAK data into a practical factory workflow

Prepare sample codes, packaging rules, PDA quantities and the importer's expected data format.
